I Can Feel It HUMMING In The Air Tonight

feel the hum.

Music helps us feel more deeply. If we are feeling heartbroken we listen to love ballads and serenades to feel the heartbreak even more. If we are getting ready for something we blast "The Final Countdown" and build up adrenaline. But music also has the power to affect our emotions too. To change how we are feeling in any given moment. What I've needed more than anything else from music in this particular moment is radical joy. 

When the people of Israel were at Mount Sinai about to receive the Torah, it says,
"וְכָל הָעָם רֹאִים אֶת הַקּוֹלֹת וְאֶת הַלַּפִּידִם וְאֵת קוֹל הַשֹּׁפָר"
"And the people of Israel saw the thunder and the voice of the shofar (20:15)"

They saw sound. Synesthesia. The experience of Revelation was so uniquely powerful that their senses were overpowered (or became superpowers). People felt that they were seeing sounds and hearing visions.

As we come closer and closer to the celebration of receiving the Torah, I wanted to try to bring us all a taste of that Radical Joy.
